Ten minutes of preparation decides how much of your home the technician can actually reach — and reach is what determines the result. This checklist covers general, cockroach, bed bug and termite work.
Before the technician arrives
- Clear the under-sink cabinet and any drawer full of clutter or cardboard
- Move furniture a few inches off the wall in the rooms being treated
- Cover exposed food, and put pet bowls and pet feed away
- Cover or move fish tanks and switch off the aerator during spraying
- Take out cardboard cartons, old newspapers and paper bags
- Tell us in advance about pregnancy, infants, elderly residents, asthma or allergies
Treatment-specific prep
- Cockroach gel: kitchen cabinets need to be openable — groceries can stay
- Bed bugs: strip the beds, and be ready to hot-wash and dry the bedding the same day
- Termite: clear along the wall–floor line and move wardrobes off the treatment wall
- Mosquito fogging: shut windows on the treated side and plan to be out during the operation
How long to stay away
Odourless gel baiting and targeted spot work usually need no vacating at all. General spraying and bed bug rounds normally mean a few hours out of the treated rooms with the windows opened afterwards. Fogging of common areas needs occupants clear during the operation and for a short settling period. The technician confirms the exact interval on site — always ask before they leave.
After the treatment
- Do not mop the treated skirting line or the inside of cabinets for a few days
- Do not wipe off gel dots inside cabinets — they are meant to be eaten
- Expect a short rise in cockroach sightings for two or three days; that is bait working
- Keep bins covered and fix dripping taps to remove the water source
- Book the follow-up round for bed bug and heavy cockroach jobs before you forget

Do I need to empty my kitchen completely?
No. Clearing the under-sink cabinet and cluttered drawers is enough for gel baiting; utensils and groceries stay where they are.
Can treatment be done with a baby or pregnant woman at home?
Yes, but tell us when booking so odourless, low-hazard products and targeted placement are used and the room schedule is planned around it.
Should I clean before or after the treatment?
